Google Maps Platform. What’s changing? What’s new?

On June 11th, 2018 the implementation of a new model for using Google Maps APIs will begin
In the first place, these changes will apply to key-less usage of map services, as well as existing users of the Standard Plan (free key).
Crucial changes:

  • Key-less requests will not be supported by Google anymore and they will return low-resolution maps with a watermark.
  • A unified billing system through the Google Maps Platform will be introduced for all users.
  • All customers will receive monthly $ 200 to cover APIs usage.
  • All customers will receive 24/5 technical support.
  • There will be new APIs: Dynamic Street View, Directions Advanced, Distance Matrix Advanced, Find Place, Autocomplete by Session, and Places API will be divided into 4 levels of detail: Basic, Basic + Contact, Basic + Atmosphere, Basic + Contact + Atmosphere.
  • All users exceeding the free $ 200 usage of mapping services will be able to choose the place and method of billing – independently by credit card or by invoices through the Partner.

  • 11,000 requests to Places (Basic).
